Primeira viagem: Atherton AM.130.X no Dyfi Bike Park

A Atherton Bikes finalmente anunciou sua tão esperada bicicleta de trilha, a AM.130. Como a bicicleta de montanha AM.150 e a bicicleta AM.200M DH, a nova Atherton Bike de 130 mm de curso é montada a partir de tubos de carbono e terminais de titânio, este último feito usando o processo um tanto hipnotizante de fabricação aditiva. O modelo de negócios feito sob encomenda dá à marca flexibilidade para oferecer uma abordagem muito mais abrangente ao dimensionamento. Como resultado, o AM.130 está disponível em nada menos que vinte e dois tamanhos.

Existem dois modelos para escolher, também. O AM.130 recebe um garfo de curso de 140 mm, proporcionando um ângulo de cabeça de 65,5 graus, enquanto o AM.130.X é aumentado para um garfo de 150 mm e tem um ângulo de cabeça ligeiramente mais frouxo de 65 graus como resultado.

Todo o design, desenvolvimento e grande parte da fabricação acontecem no QG da Atherton Bikes em Machynlleth, País de Gales, a uma curta distância de carro do Dyfi Bike Park de Dan Atherton e ao alcance de centenas de quilômetros de trilhas naturais cortadas à mão em qual esta bicicleta foi testada.

O AM.130 é um 29er completo lançado como uma bicicleta de trilha que faz tudo, leve e eficiente o suficiente para grandes dias pedalando de pico a pico, mas robusta e com suporte suficiente para voltas no parque de bicicletas. Como tal, o quadro de carbono-titânio passou em todos os testes EFBE Cat 4 (Enduro) e Cat 5 (Downhill) mais rigorosos e é vendido com uma garantia vitalícia que se estende apenas ao primeiro proprietário.

O AM.130 oferece o deslocamento da roda traseira por meio de uma plataforma de suspensão projetada em colaboração com o prolífico Dave Weagle; a articulação DW6 executa um layout de 6 barras, uma versão semelhante da qual pode ser vista nos quadros de deslocamento mais longos da Atherton.
